Did You Know? ‘Liar’ Is More Offensive Than ‘Obnoxious Little Weed’!

March 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

For the uninitiated, Matthew Hayden called Harbhajan Singh an ‘Obnoxious Little Weed’ on radio in front of the whole, wide world and Cricket Australia (CA) let him off, with just a reprimand. Read more about that issue here.

But when Bhajji allegedly called Hayden a ‘liar’, it became so offensive that CA had to write a letter to BCCI demanding that action be taken against the off-spinner. Indeed, I just can’t resist quoting that letter here. Just read on.

PTI reports,

According to ‘The Age’, CA has now written a letter to BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah, demanding that the board take action on Harbhajan.

“Enough is enough. Despite assurances that you have instructed him not to fuel this issue any more, Harbhajan continues to say whatever he wants. When will it ever end? Could you please deal with your player in regard to these comments,” CA chief executive James Sutherland wrote in the letter.

“We’ve tried over the summer to get the balance right in the way controversial comment has been managed and we’ve certainly, through our actions with Matthew Hayden, been firm with our own players in terms of where the tipping point is.”

“We believe it is possible to make intelligent, thoughtful and even provocative public comment without descending to personal abuse,” Sutherland wrote.

I no longer feel angry when I see such reports. In fact, I pity the Australians. The World Champions are such Pathetic Losers. They are crying like a small baby. Heh.

Harbhajan Singh’s Sweet Revenge!

March 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I love this guy. In Final No.1, he got the wickets of both Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds. In Final No.2, he first ran Hayden out and in the same over, he got the wicket of Symonds. What a perfect way to end this controversial series- Bhajji had been constantly targeted by both these guys. Now that’s what you call Sweet Revenge!

And you must have seen Bhajji after India won the match. He was wildly excited, he was thumping his chest (and probably making gestures towards the crowd). Kudos, Bhajji! I hope the Australians have learned their lesson now: don’t mess with the Indians.

And for those who want to see Symonds play ‘Tackle-the-Streaker’, watch this slideshow:

How’s That! Symonds grounds a streaker

Heh! Already, rumors are doing the rounds that this time the ‘monkey’ is going to pay dearly for his antics. I hope he does.

No Fine, No Ban; Hayden Let Off With Reprimand!

February 27, 2008 · 4 Comments

This is really unbelievable stuff! Matthew Hayden called Harbhajan Singh an “obnoxious little weed” in a radio interview on Tuesday, in which he ridiculed Indians, Harbhajan and Ishant Sharma. This was in violation of Cricket Australia’s (CA) Code of Behaviour. Today, CA asked Hayden to attend a judicial hearing in Melbourne. Which he did, and was let off with just a reprimand. Nothing else.

Now my blood is boiling. Really. WTF is happening? Why hasn’t the BCCI registered a complaint with the ICC till now? Harbhajan was banned for three test matches without any evidence of his saying anything racist (of course, this ban was later lifted). And now, when Hayden is launching such cheap verbal attacks against India in front of the whole world, on radio, he is let off with just a reprimand?

Heh. Now let the Aussies come to India. We have been tolerant of their stupid antics for long enough. They want to play in the IPL, isn’t it? Well, let’s teach them a lesson they will never forget.

Do the Australians deserve to be called the ‘world champions’ anymore? They seem to be more like ‘pathetic losers’ to me.

And yes, this is what Bhajji says about this new fracas: Aussies losing crown, losing temper

Read the transcript of that radio interview here.

Dickhead Communists! They Want Twenty20 Cricket To Be Banned!

February 23, 2008 · 5 Comments

Heh. I knew all along that the Left parties are run by a bunch of dickheads stubbornly sticking to their rusted ideologies, but I didn’t know that these guys are retards too. Why did I just say that? Well…

PTI reports,

The government should ban Twenty20 cricket and ascertain the source of income for the BCCI-backed multi-billion dollar Indian Premier League, veteran CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta demanded on Saturday.

Describing Twenty20 cricket as a “gamble” involving “widespread betting” and “free investment of unaccounted money”, Dasgupta alleged that a cabinet minister was involved in the “caricature of the game and looting cricket lovers.”

Hmm…that cabinet minister is obviously our Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. Before banning IPL, I think we should ban the Left parties in India which are single-handedly responsible for blocking many reforms that would have immensely helped India in her quest to become a developed nation.

I too don’t completely agree with this whole IPL drama being played out. But ban it? Nah! At least, let the matches start. Who knows, this may turn out be a great development for world cricket!

And yes, it seems we Indians have a very short fuse nowadays. If we don’t like something, or if we think something has ‘offended’ us, it should be banned. Period. No debate, no reasoning. WTF?

IPL? It’s All About The Money, Honey!

February 22, 2008 · 4 Comments

OK, now that the initial euphoria over the Indian Premium League auctions is over, let’s think. Let’s remember that whenever the Indian team fails miserably (the World Cup?), the reasons given are ‘excessive cricket’ and ‘packed itineraries’. Our Indian cricketers don’t have enough time and energy to play for ‘Team India’. And now they have a new addition to their ‘packed itineraries’. The IPL matches.

So, what’s going to happen now? Well, the IPL is like a gold mine waiting to be exploited. Everyone will want a share of it. And then maybe, just maybe, our cricketers may start giving the ‘Team India’ matches a miss so that they can play in the IPL.

Of course, one more option exists, the international tournaments can be scheduled in such a way that they don’t interfere with the IPL matches (Heck, I hope that doesn’t happen!). But then, wouldn’t that become ‘excessive cricket’? How could our delicate, fragile cricketers cope with that? I wonder.

About Australian Egg Missiles!

February 3, 2008 · 2 Comments

Yep, that’s Australia’s new invention. But when to use them? Well, here are the details. When try as you might, you just can’t beat your rival, throw this missile at him. And what happens then? Nothing. It just shows what a pathetic loser you are!

What am I talking about? Read this article and you will understand everything: Ahead of tri-series, Murali hit with egg in Aus

P.S. Now who is racist?

What Did Harbhajan Tell Symonds?

January 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

OK, so Harbhajan has been cleared of racial abuse (but was found guilty of using offensive language) by the Appeals Commissioner Justice John Hansen. Good.

According to the recordings from the stump microphone, which were produced as evidence before the Appeals Commissioner, the following conversation took place between Harbhajan and Symonds, as reported on the DNA website,

Symonds to Harbhajan at the end of an over: “Go and yell at your teammates… You called me monkey again.”

Australian opener Matthew Hayden interjects: “You have got a witness now champ”, obviously addressing Symonds.

Apparently turning to Harbhajan, Hayden is heard saying, “That is the last time”.

Harbhajan: “No, listen, he started it.”

Hayden: “Doesn’t matter mate, it is racial vilification mate. It is a s*** word and you know it”.

These exchanges took place on January 4, the third day of the Sydney Test and the Australians filed a complaint against Harbhajan.

No wonder Harbhajan was not found guilty, that evidence isn’t conclusive, is it?

Symonds or Hanuman? You Decide!

January 14, 2008 · 3 Comments

I received this as an e-mail from some guys who call themselves ‘Hindu Jagruti Samiti’ (HJS). This photo appeared in The Courier-Mail, an Australian newspaper. At the very outset, let me state that I certainly am not a radical, fundamentalist Hindu!

The HJS guys are rightly incensed at this depiction of Symonds as Hanuman, but when I first saw this, it made me laugh. Symonds looks damn comic in that disguise!

Still, if you too are angry with this, you can register your protest here.

You are welcome to leave your comments about this issue, but I will delete any comments which are excessively derogatory towards a particular religion or person (and spam, too!).

P.S. The offending photo has been removed from the newspaper’s website, though they still have not apologized for their cheek.

Indian Cricket’s Financial Clout And Why We Should Use It.

January 12, 2008 · 7 Comments

Well, this post had to come. How could I not comment on the current hot topic?

I will begin this post with the assumption that Harbhajan Singh is innocent (at least, not the only one guilty). The foreign media has been complaining that the BCCI has been arm-twisting the ICC to make things happen. Well, what’s wrong in that? The BCCI only wants justice done. That’s it.

As for financial clout, more than 70% of cricketing revenues come from the Indian sub-continent, a major chunk of it from India. We are like a superpower in the cricketing world, just like the U.S. is in the world order. The U.S. too routinely arm-twists countries (to devastating effect, of course!).

That’s how it is. We have earned the power we currently possess. And if someone offends us the way those arrogant Australians did, we can’t take it lying down, can we? We shouldn’t. Without any evidence, they have managed to get Bhajji banned for three tests! I am surprised that our players are still there and have not packed their bags and returned home already. Even now, if Bhajji is not declared innocent, we should keep the option of returning home open.

Today, in the Indian Express, I read an article by Shekhar Gupta, in which he described how Kapil Dev faced a similar situation while playing against South Africa in 1992. Really good article.
